Tailor-made trip to Morocco Morocco, accepting the distances.

Marrakech, the desert, the Atlas and the coast in the same week: it is the most frequent request, and it simply does not work. The country is vast and the roads are long.

Recommended length
8 to 12 days
Best time to go
March-May and September-November

Why travel there with me

Travelling to Morocco: what I know about this destination.

I have built trips to Morocco, including a complete travel book on Marrakech, with my favourite places and how each day unfolds.

Morocco calls for planning ahead on two points: the distances, which are longer than you might imagine between the cities and the desert, and the choice of riad, which shapes much of your experience of the medina.

So I build realistic itineraries, even if it means giving up one stop to truly enjoy the others.

When to go

When to go to Morocco? The right month depends on what you are looking for.

Morocco does not have one climate but several: Marrakech, the Atlas, the desert and the Atlantic coast are nothing alike. This table applies to the interior, the most requested area.

Itineraries

Morocco itineraries: routes that are genuinely thought through.

This itinerary is a working basis, not a package. It is adjusted to your pace, your budget and the season.

Suggestion — nine days, eight nights

Marrakech and the desert, without racing against the clock

The most requested combination, built with real driving times rather than brochure ones.

Days 1 to 3 — Marrakech

Three nights. The city is best discovered neighbourhood by neighbourhood, and it quickly becomes tiring if the programme is too full.

Day 4 — Crossing the Atlas

The road south over the pass, with stops along the way. It is a full day of travel, and it should be accepted as such: it is also one of the most beautiful moments of the trip.

Days 5 and 6 — Valleys and desert

Gorges, oases, then a night in a bivouac or desert camp.

Days 7 and 8 — Back by another road

A loop rather than an out-and-back, so you never drive the same road twice.

Day 9 — Departure

Return to the airport.

Frequently asked questions

Your questions about a trip to Morocco, and my answers.

How many days should I allow?

Nine days are enough to combine Marrakech and the desert without rushing. To add a third region, allow twelve days. Over a week, it is better to choose a single region and do it well.

When is the best time to go?

March to May and September to November. The desert is superb in April and October. Winter is very pleasant during the day but the nights are cold, which matters if you are sleeping in a desert camp.

Do I need a driver or can I drive myself?

Both options work. Driving yourself gives you freedom on the easier roads. A driver brings comfort on the long stages, especially towards the desert, and lets you enjoy the road rather than endure it. I advise you according to your itinerary and your driving experience, and I book whichever option you choose in advance.

Is Morocco suitable with children?

Yes, by adapting the pace and cutting down on driving time. Long days in the car are what wears a family out fastest on this destination.

How much does a trip to Morocco cost?

The budget depends mainly on the season, the length of stay and the standard of accommodation. I ask for your budget from our first conversation, then build an itinerary that respects it. Once the itinerary is approved, I send you an overall estimate, then the detailed quote. My fees are built into the price of the services: there are no hidden costs.

What are the entry formalities?

A passport is compulsory: for French nationals, an identity card alone is no longer enough to enter Morocco. It must be valid for the whole length of the stay. For a tourist stay of less than three months, no visa is required for French travellers. I check the rules in force before every departure.

Two ways to begin

A clear project, or just a wish?

Both can be worked on. The only difference is the starting point.
