Tailor-made honeymoon The trip that comes after, designed while you think about the wedding.

In the months leading up to the big day, you will have neither the time nor the energy to plan this trip. That is exactly why I do this job.

Why this trip is different

A honeymoon is not a holiday: it comes at the end of an exhausting year.

Most of the couples I work with arrive in the same state: tired, with a budget that has already taken a serious hit, and the uncomfortable feeling of having to pull off one more big event after the last one. There is a particular pressure on this trip, because you only get to do it once.

In practical terms, this changes three things in the way it is put together. First, the pace: a packed honeymoon misses the point, and yet it is the most common request in a first conversation. Second, how the budget is shared out: two beautiful stops are better than a string of compromises. Finally, the timing: leaving straight after the wedding is not always a good idea, and I have learnt to say so.

My role is to carry this project for you while you handle everything else, and to ask you the three or four questions that matter at the right moment, rather than sending you twenty proposals.

The timing

Leave on honeymoon right after the wedding, or wait?

There is no single right answer. There is an answer that depends on the season of your wedding, your destination and how tired you are.

Leaving straight away

The most symbolic option, and sometimes the riskiest. It works well when the destination is close, the itinerary simple and the programme genuinely restful. It works badly when it means a long-haul flight the day after a sleepless night.

Waiting a few weeks

The most common compromise among the couples I work with. It gives you time to recover, avoids putting up with the wrong season, and often means better conditions once you are there.

Waiting for the right season

If your dream destination is at its worst time of year when you get married, waiting several months is not giving something up: it is what separates the trip you dreamt of from a trip you merely endure.

What gets decided first

Contrary to what most people assume, the destination is not the first decision. The time of year is. Once that is settled, the list of destinations at their best at that moment shrinks considerably, and that is good news, because choosing finally becomes possible.

What I take care of

A tailor-made honeymoon, from the first idea to your return, without you having to give it a thought.

The design

I first build the complete itinerary and ask you to approve it. The quote comes next, once the programme is settled. You are not comparing prices: you are approving a trip.

The bookings

Flights, accommodation, transfers, activities. I book and confirm everything myself, with the protection of a travel agency registered with Atout France.

The details that count

Hotels and other establishments treat a stay flagged as a honeymoon differently. It is a detail you only get by asking, at the right time and of the right person.

The travel book

A detailed travel book, digital or on paper on request: a day-by-day programme, addresses, practical tips, what you need to know once there. And, as an option, a direct line you can reach at any hour during your stay.

Where to go

Four honeymoon destinations I often put together.

Not all of them suit every time of year or every couple. For each one, I have gathered the best season, a sample itinerary and the details that matter.

Julie Ruault

Julie, your point of contact

I design every trip myself, from the first conversation to your return. For a honeymoon, that means a single person to talk to, who knows your file, your wedding date and what you have already decided, and who stays reachable when something changes.

Frequently asked questions

Honeymoons: what couples ask me first.

How far ahead should we start planning?

As early as possible, as soon as your wedding date is set. There is no need to book everything straight away, but the timing and the destination are worth settling early: the most sought-after accommodation and high-season flights go well before the wedding. I explain everything in my guide to planning your honeymoon.

Do we need to have chosen a destination before contacting you?

No, and it is often more comfortable if you haven't. The time of year, your budget and what you are really looking for are more than enough to get started. The destination is a consequence, not a starting point.

How does the quote work?

I first put together an itinerary for you to approve, then I draw up the quote. It is free, can be changed until you approve it, and is valid for seven days from the date it is issued. My fees are included in the price of the services. Payment in instalments is always offered, which matters all the more on this kind of project.

Do you work with wedding planners?

Yes. If your wedding is being organised with a wedding planner, I am happy to work directly with them: it avoids overlapping schedules and unwelcome surprises with dates.

What happens if something changes?

The conditions for changes and cancellations are set out in the terms and conditions of sale. In practice, the earlier a change comes, the simpler it is: that is also why having a single, reachable point of contact makes a real difference.

Are you a wedding planner?

Let's work together.

I work with wedding planners and wedding professionals who would like to offer the honeymoon without having to design it themselves. A travel agency registered with Atout France, with a financial guarantee and professional liability insurance: your couples are covered just as they would be with a large company, and you keep a single point of contact.

Two ways to get started

A clear plan, or just a wish?

Both can be worked on. The only difference is the starting point.

Tell me about your project

The form takes three minutes. Dates are not required: if you do not have any yet, an approximate time of year is enough.
