Why Italy for a honeymoon
A honeymoon in Italy: close to home, and yet unforgettable.
Italy is a honeymoon destination that people underestimate because it is close. Yet it is one of the richest: art cities, the Tuscan countryside, lakes, coastlines and islands, with food that almost justifies the trip on its own.
Being close has another advantage: no long flight, no jet lag. If you are leaving straight after your wedding, that is real comfort.
Italy is one of the destinations I build most often. And for a honeymoon, I always defend the same idea: two or three stops truly enjoyed are worth more than four cities rushed through.
The calendar
When to go on honeymoon to Italy?
April to June and September to October are the best periods: beautiful light, pleasant temperatures, long evenings. Summer is hot, very busy and more expensive in the art cities.
If you are dreaming of the coast and the sea, late spring and September are ideal. Out of season, some seaside hotels close: it is something I check before suggesting a stop.
The month-by-month detail is on my tailor-made trip to Italy page.
Route ideas
Three honeymoon ideas in Italy, depending on what you love.
Art cities and countryside
Rome or Florence, then a few nights in the Tuscan countryside. The train links the big cities quickly, and a car is only useful for the countryside part.
Lakes and the good life
A lake in northern Italy, its villages and gardens, possibly combined with Venice. A slow, elegant honeymoon, with no need to be by the beach.
Coast and sunshine
A coastline or an island in the south for the sea, with a city at the start or end of the trip. This is the format where the choice of period matters most.
These stages are a working basis, not a package. I always build the itinerary with you, have you approve it, then draw up the quote.
What I take care of
The details that make a honeymoon in Italy a success.
Few stops, well chosen
Two or three bases over a week to ten days, never one city a day.
Bookings that cannot be left to chance
The most popular museums and sites need booking several weeks in advance. I take care of it so you do not have to queue.
Stress-free transfers
Train, boat or car depending on the stage. In Venice, for example, I arrange your arrival by boat from the airport.
Places to go in the evening
In my travel book, suggestions for each stop, chosen for a trip for two.
Frequently asked questions
Your questions about a honeymoon in Italy.
Which region should we choose for a honeymoon in Italy?
It depends on what you are looking for: art cities, countryside, lakes or the sea. I ask you these questions at our first conversation, then suggest an itinerary that suits the season.
How many days should we allow?
A week is enough for two stops. With ten to twelve days, you can add a third without rushing.
Do we need a car?
Not for the cities, where the train is simpler. A car becomes useful for the countryside or certain coastlines, and I only plan one for those stages.
Is Italy a good choice for leaving straight after the wedding?
Yes, it is even one of its strengths: a short flight, no jet lag, and a trip that begins the moment you arrive.
Two ways to begin
A clear project, or just a wish?
Both can be worked on. The only difference is the starting point.
Tell me about your project
The form takes three minutes. Dates are not required: if you do not have any yet, an approximate period is enough.
Describe my projectBook a call
Thirty minutes by video or phone, free and with no commitment, to clarify an idea that is still taking shape and see whether I am the right person for you.
