Tailor-made trip to Egypt Egypt, at a manageable pace.

A destination where the programme can quickly turn into a string of visits at fixed times. What makes the difference is the pace and the choice of the right moments in the day.

Why this destination with me

A trip to Egypt: what I know of this destination.

I have put together trips to Egypt, with a detailed travel book for each one.

Egypt is all about pace: the sites are vast, the heat builds quickly during the day, and overloaded days are exhausting. I schedule the major visits early in the morning and keep time to breathe.

It is also a destination where the choice of local providers matters a great deal. I deal with this before departure, so that you have nothing to negotiate once you are there.

When to go

When to go to Egypt? The right month depends on what you are coming for.

Egypt is a winter destination. In summer, Upper Egypt, around Luxor and Aswan, reaches temperatures that make sightseeing difficult, even early in the morning.

Itineraries

Egypt itineraries: routes that are genuinely built.

This itinerary is a working basis, not a package. It is adjusted to your pace, your budget and the season.

Suggestion — ten days

Cairo and Upper Egypt

The major sites, but with days that start early and stop before the heat, rather than a non-stop programme.

Days 1 to 3 — Cairo

Three nights. The major sites are visited early in the morning. The city is dense and getting around takes time: two major visits a day is a reasonable pace, not four.

Day 4 — On to Upper Egypt

A domestic flight to Luxor rather than a long road journey or a night train: that is half a day saved.

Days 5 to 8 — Luxor, Aswan, and possibly the Nile

Luxor and its temples, the Valley of the Kings early in the morning, then Aswan. Between the two, the journey along the Nile can be made on a cruise of a few nights or by road, depending on the pace you want. I present both options.

Days 9 and 10 — End of the trip and return

Domestic flight back to Cairo, a last day for a museum or a district you did not have time to see, then the return flight.

Frequently asked questions

Your questions about a trip to Egypt, and my answers.

How many days should I allow?

Ten days let you see Cairo and Upper Egypt without rushing. A week forces you to choose between the two.

When is the best time to go?

From October to April. November, February and March are particularly pleasant. The end-of-year holidays bring heavy crowds and high prices.

A Nile cruise or hotels?

Both have their merits, and the choice depends on your pace. A cruise between Luxor and Aswan lets you see the major sites without changing hotels, with organised stops. Hotels leave you more freedom over timings and visits. I present both options and tell you honestly which one best suits the way you travel.

How much does a trip to Egypt cost?

The budget depends mainly on the season, the length of stay and the standard of accommodation. I ask for your budget from our first conversation, then build an itinerary that respects it. Once the itinerary is approved, I send you an overall estimate, then the detailed quote. My fees are built into the price of the services: there are no hidden costs.

Is it suitable for families?

Yes, provided the sightseeing programme is lightened considerably and real breaks are planned. Pace is the only real point to watch.

What are the entry formalities?

For French nationals, a visa is required. It can be applied for online before departure, on the official Egyptian website, or obtained on arrival. The passport must be valid for at least six months after the return date. I guide you through the process and check the rules in force before every departure.

Two ways to begin

A clear project, or just a wish?

Both can be worked on. The only difference is the starting point.
