Tailor-made trip to Corsica Corsica, without spending your holiday on the road.

An island where everything looks close on the map and nothing really is. Mountain roads are driven slowly, and that is what makes the trip so beautiful, provided you have planned for it.

Recommended length
8 to 12 days
Best time to go
May, June and September

Why travel there with me

Travelling to Corsica: what I know about this destination.

I have built trips to southern Corsica, with a detailed stage-by-stage guide, and Corsica is one of the destinations in my video series on honeymoons.

What I see most often is people underestimating the roads. The island looks small on the map, but the mountain and coastal roads are slow, and one badly placed day of driving is enough to tire everyone out.

So I choose one or two bases at most, and build the days around what can easily be reached from each.

When to go

When to go to Corsica? The right month depends on what you are looking for.

Summer in Corsica is superb but saturated: accommodation, ferries and coastal roads. Spring and early autumn offer a completely different trip, on a far more manageable budget.

Itineraries

Corsica itineraries: routes that are genuinely thought through.

This itinerary is a working basis, not a package. It is adjusted to your pace, your budget and the season.

Suggestion — nine days, eight nights

Southern Corsica, two bases and nothing more

Only two places to stay, with days that radiate out from each. It is the structure that works best on an island where every journey is costly in time.

Days 1 to 4 — First base, in the south

Four nights in one place. Beaches, coves reachable by boat, inland villages a short distance away.

Day 5 — A day at sea

A boat trip to the nature reserves and the coves that cannot be reached by road. It is the day everyone remembers, and it needs booking in advance in season.

Days 6 to 8 — Second base, inland or on the other coast

A change of accommodation, just once in the trip. Mountains, hilltop villages, river swimming.

Day 9 — Return

Drive to the port or the airport, with a comfortable margin: journeys in Corsica should always be planned as longer than announced.

Frequently asked questions

Your questions about a trip to Corsica, and my answers.

Ferry or plane?

It depends first on your vehicle. The ferry lets you bring your own car, which changes the budget and your flexibility on the island, but each crossing costs half a day. The plane is quicker but means hiring a car there, which has to be booked well ahead in season. It is one of the first trade-offs I work through with you.

How many days should I allow?

Eight to nine days for half the island without rushing. To see the north and the south properly, allow two weeks instead. With less than a week, it is better to narrow the area than to speed up the pace.

When is the best time to go?

May, June and September. May brings the maquis in bloom and quiet roads, September a sea that is still warm and an island that is emptying out. August has the heaviest crowds and the highest prices.

Is Corsica suitable for families?

Yes, as long as the pace is adapted: two bases at most, short stages and beaches chosen for how easy they really are to reach rather than for their reputation.

How much does a stay in Corsica cost?

The budget depends mainly on the season, the length of stay and the standard of accommodation. I ask for your budget from our first conversation, then build an itinerary that respects it. Once the itinerary is approved, I send you an overall estimate, then the detailed quote. My fees are built into the price of the services: there are no hidden costs.

Can I go out of season?

Yes, and it is a lovely option for hiking and the villages. Just be aware that some restaurants, accommodation and water activities close from October to April: the trip is different, not worse.

Two ways to begin

A clear project, or just a wish?
