Tailor-made trip to Mauritius Mauritius, beyond the hotel.

An island where you could easily spend ten days without ever stepping past your hotel gate. That is one option, but it would be a shame, and it is not how I build a stay.

Recommended length
9 to 12 days

Why this destination with me

Travelling to Mauritius: what I know about this destination.

I regularly organise stays in Mauritius, for private clients as well as companies, including flights, car hire and the hotel.

In Mauritius, the choice of coast and hotel changes everything. I always compare several properties and several room categories before suggesting the right one, and I adjust according to your feedback.

I also almost always recommend a car: it is the best way to get out of the hotel and discover the island, something many travellers never do.

When to go

When to go to Mauritius? The right month depends on what you are looking for.

Mauritius is in the southern hemisphere, so the seasons are reversed. The southern summer, from January to March, is hot and humid and coincides with the cyclone season.

Itineraries

Itineraries in Mauritius: routes that are genuinely built.

This itinerary is a starting point, not a package. It is adjusted to your pace, your budget and the season.

Suggested itinerary — eleven days, ten nights

Mauritius, two coasts rather than one

One or two bases, with real days of discovery in between. The island is small, but its coasts are not alike.

Days 1 to 5 — First coast

Settling in for five nights. Beach, lagoon, and one or two outings into the interior.

Day 6 — The island's interior

A day inland: hills and peaks, plantations, markets. This is what beach-only stays miss the most.

Days 7 to 10 — Second coast

A change of base, just once. The coasts differ in their wind, their lagoon and their atmosphere.

Day 11 — Departure

Transfer to the airport.

Frequently asked questions

Your questions about a trip to Mauritius, and my answers.

How many days should I allow?

Eleven days let you enjoy two coasts and the interior without rushing. A week works very well too, but with a single base.

When is the best time to go?

From May to December. The southern winter, from June to September, is dry and mild, with a slightly cooler sea and wind on some coasts. October and November offer an excellent compromise.

Is Mauritius a good destination for a honeymoon?

It is one of the most requested, and the format then changes: a single base, accommodation chosen for the experience, and time. See the honeymoon page.

And for a corporate retreat?

Yes, and I have already organised some. The constraints are different: meeting room capacity, suitable catering, group transfers. See the corporate retreat page.

How much does a stay in Mauritius cost?

The budget depends mainly on the season, the length of the trip and the standard of accommodation. I ask for your budget at our first conversation, then build an itinerary that respects it. Once the itinerary is approved, I send you an overall estimate, followed by the detailed quote. My fees are built into the price of the services: there are no hidden costs.

What are the entry formalities?

For French nationals, no visa is needed for a tourist stay of less than three months. You need a passport valid for the whole stay and a return ticket. An online form is recommended before departure: I explain the steps to follow and I check the rules in force before every departure.

Two ways to begin

A clear project, or just a wish?

Both can be worked on. The only difference is the starting point.

Tell me about your project

The form takes three minutes. Dates are not required: if you do not have any yet, an approximate period is enough.
